Anthony is one of Australia's most accomplished talents. He has thrilled audiences all over Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and the USA with his unique brand of comedy. He has performed live in front of 110,000 people at Stadium Australia and in front of thirty five million people on US TV.
After graduating with a B.A. in English Literature and Drama, Anthony pursued a career as a writer/performer.
Anthony first rose to prominence as a star of the legendary ABC comedy series "The Big Gig" and his TV work spans all five free to air networks and cable television. He has made regular appearances on shows such as "Hey, Hey It's Saturday", "The Mid-Day show", "Tonight Live", "The Late Show", "Good Morning Australia", "Good News Week", "Smallest Room In The House" as well as appearing frequently on cable TV’s thecomedychannel and TV1.
His most recent TV appearances have been on Ch. 10’s “Good News Week Debates”, the ABC’s “People Dimensions” and Ch.9’s “Money” and Granada Television’s “Campaign”.
Anthony has also written for television and his credits include the ratings phenomenon "The Comedy Company".
He spent two years writing for an American sit-com series based on the Ace Ventura movies which has been released internationally. He developed his own sit-com series "Anthony" for the ABC.
Anthony wrote and directed the award winning short film "Fool Proof".
He also writes for the print media and has contributed feature articles to "Vogue”, "Studio", "Men's Stuff","Good Taste", "Sunday Telegraph", "Cosmopolitan". He is now a regular contributor to the "Sydney Morning Herald" and “The Age” writing for “Good Weekend” magazine.
A published and recorded singer-songwriter, Anthony has used these skills to enhance his three one man shows, "Anthony Ackroyd In His Own Little World" and "Ecstasy And How To Get It", and “At Last The Truth About Everything”. All shows toured nationally. His new show “The Fruit Of My Lions” sold out in its debut season at Sydney’s Glen Street Theatre and is currently touring nationally.
Radio work has included regular appearances on Triple M, Today FM, Triple J, and Radio National.He is currently a regular on ABC 702's "Thank God It's Friday!".
Anthony's acting experience is extensive and he has appeared in over 50 stage productions ranging from "Winnie the Pooh" to "King Lear". He was one of the pioneering forces behindthe success of "Theatre Sports", sharing a NSW Championship victory with Andrew Denton.
Anthony has created several character roles for feature films, including the international release "Reckless Kelly".
Anthony was co-winner of the award for "Best Use of Humour in a Commercial " at the Australasian Television Advertising Awards.
Anthony was winner of the Silver Award for "Best Corporate Short Film" at the Chicago Film Festival. He is currently one of the top comedians working in the corporate sector in the role of entertainer and MC. He is a corporate trainer specialising in communication and team building. His approach emphasises learning and achieving synergy through humour, play and creativity. His clients have included Coopers and Lybrand, NSW State Parliament, and Qantas. Anthony's delivers a range of corporate seminars, keynote addresses and workshops including "Not Drowning, Laughing!: How to use humour to become richer, happier and totally irresistible!"

Anthony is currently a guest lecturer at the University of New South Wales and Glenaeon Steiner School on the subject of humour and its practical applications. He also regularly serves as a “clown-doctor” at Randwick and Westmead Children’s Hospitals.
Anthony's objective as an artist is to keep creating work that provides more and more insight into our culture, our relationships with one another, and the truth of our inner nature.
